Authentic, Timeless and Respectful of its Natural Environment – A Resort in and of itself!
Mountain Star…. One of the most inspirational living experiences in the Vail Valley. Mountain Star consists of only 90 homesites on 1,300 acres, providing a peaceful mountain setting for buyers seeking exclusivity and privacy with commanding views.
132 Shooting Star, known as Meadow Lodge, sits on 2.8 acres of land, nestled in an aspen grove, overlooking an alpine meadow where snowshoeing, cross country skiing and hiking is accessed with ease. Architect Ned Gwathmey’s unique design allows the house to roll with the natural slope of the land, providing inspiring views to the southwest toward Castle Peak. Craftsmanship, authenticity and tradition were of utmost importance in building this special retreat. Known for his attention to detail and knowledge of high mountain building, George Shaeffer of Shaeffer Hyde Construction was the only choice for a contractor – adding great value to this home!
Meadow Lodge consists of 5 separate but connected structures surrounding a lovely courtyard and surrounded by fabulous heated outdoor patios, with outdoor spa, firepit, playground and a stunning water feature and pond. The indoor pool, workout area, steam room and theater truly add to the feeling of being in a resort within a resort. For ease of living, the home lives mainly on one level offering over 8,800 square feet.

The Main Lodge
The Lodge is the focus of the home consisting of the common rooms, which are framed with massive, hand-hewn log trusses. The Great Room is anchored by a large, stone, wood-burning fireplace, providing a feeling of rustic elegance. The spacious dining area overlooks the courtyard. This home has hosted many family, friends and charitable events!
The kitchen, with Thermador double ovens and cooktop, Sub-Zero refrigerator; 2 Asko dishwashers, 2 full sinks, slab granite countertops and generous pantry makes cooking a breeze. An eat-in kitchen nook and adjacent hearth room with handsome cabinetry and stone fireplace makes this area a favorite gathering area within the lodge.
The lower level of the lodge includes a media room, additional living area, bathroom, wine storage and valuable crawlspace storage. A large guest suite above the 3-car garage provides privacy for guests or a caretaker.
The Master Suite Lodge
The Master Suite Lodge offers a private retreat for the homeowner. A vaulted, beamed bedroom is the heart of the suite. This suite features a lovely stone fireplace and large windows looking west to the meadow through a grove of aspen trees. Beautiful wildlife can often be observed from these windows. A luxurious bathroom features a large steam shower and spa tub as well as large his and hers walk-in closets.
Two studies/offices complete the master suite, either of which could be used for additional sleeping or nurseries.
The Guest Cottage
Family members and guests will enjoy the ultimate privacy of the Cottage which is a separate building with its own entry from the main courtyard. It is connected, however, to the Lodge via the glass-walled main hallway. The Sitting Room is the heart of the Cottage with a warming fireplace and wet bar with dishwasher, refrigerator, sink and microwave. Three guest rooms with private baths surround the sitting room.
The Pool House (Natatorium)
What makes this Lodge truly a resort is the Pool House, a favorite with grandchildren and guests! Not a detail was missed in the design of the pool house, complete with stunning log trusses and large windows looking out at the surrounding aspen groves and wild flowers. A spa-like experience is offered with the 15x30 foot saline pool with automatic pool cover, workout area, juice bar and bathroom with a large steam shower. Three double doors allow walk-out access to the heated stone patio with in-ground spa hot tub, firepit and playground overlooking the pond and water feature.
Mountain Star is a community in the Vail Valley unlike any other. Some of the most architecturally impressive, innovative, and quality-built estate homes are located in Mountain Star, where residents, through their design, have the freedom to express themselves. The full-time ranch manager housed at Ranch Central is always on-site to look after Mountain Star’s homes.
To find this unique and private lodge, within the gates of such a community, is truly a windfall. And to top that off, Mountain Star is but 10 minutes to Beaver Creek and 15 minutes to Vail, and within minutes to numerous golf courses. What more could one want in a Mountain Home!
About Mountain Star
For buyers seeking exclusivity with a view, Mountain Star is a community with just 90 homesteads across 1,300 acres of rolling meadows, sage hills and forested glades. With a development philosophy that thoughtfully integrates these single-family homes with their beautiful, natural surroundings, Mountain Star’s sense of place feels less like a gated development of homes and more like an escape within nature. Privacy and serenity are felt throughout the community, where cross-country trails for hiking and biking allow residents an abundance of places to explore. It’s just minutes from Avon, Beaver Creek and Vail, yet it’s one of the valley’s best-kept secrets. Mountain Star is a place where understated opulence sits tucked into the trees and atop the hillside, where views of the Gore and Sawatch Mountain Ranges can erase the hustle and bustle in the valley below.
